Lazy Sunday…

Sodapalooza

It’s been a lazy Sunday for us. Actually, it’s been a lazy weekend. We celebrated our 5th anniversary on Friday. We grilled steaks and scallops and had many, many cocktails. It was a very fun evening (wink, wink, nudge, nudge…if you know what I’m sayin’….meeeooooww!).

Saturday consisted of clothes shopping, then us getting tired and going home to drink cocktails and watch the movie The Mummy with Brendan Fraser. Last weekend we went to Universal Studios in Orlando and loved riding the new ride, Revenge of the Mummy, based on the aforementioned movie. The experience of that ride made us want to watch the Mummy and its sequel, Mummy Returns, again. So we did. The movie was awesome and we passed out drunk, fat and happy around midnight.

Sunday involved Steph going to her classroom to prepare for Monday and me running a few errands. While out, I discovered the below:

You can understand my fascination. Finding a new flavor of Pepsi is like finding the Fountain of Youth and realizing it’s mango flavored. Totally unexpected. Diet Pepsi Jazz?! I mean, really? Black-Cherry-Vanilla Diet Pepsi? Could they have crammed anymore flavors into this bottle? I think not. In case you were wondering, it tastes like creme soda flavored Pepsi. Pretty good, but not good enough to replace regular Diet Pepsi, for me. Definately better than the Wild Cherry Diet Pepsi they released.

Anyway, hope everyone else had a good weekend. PEACE!!!

Pirates of the Caribbean II Opens Today!!

Posted in humor, movies, personal, pirates, random with tags , , on July 7, 2006 by Paxton

Capt Pax Holley and Capt Jack Sparrow…Separated at birth? You decide. If you ask me, I think Capt Jack wishes he had the looks and chutzpah of Capt Pax. But that’s just me.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest opens today. Steph and I will probably go see it tomorrow afternoon to avoid the lines. I am really looking forward to this sequel because we loved the first one. As a matter of fact, we tried to rent Curse of the Black Pearl this week and every single copy was rented. EVERY SINGLE COPY. Since the movie is older, Blockbuster kept only 2 or 3 copies. Well, I guess everyone else wanted to see it too, because they are ALL gone. But I’m not just talking about our local Blockbuster, but every Blockbuster in our area. And that’s a lot of Blockbusters. As you know, Blockbuster is like the Starbucks of DVDs. There’s usually two or three right around the corner…and usually right next to a McDonald’s.

I even slummed and went to Hollywood Video to find a copy. Let me tell you, that place is a friggin’ HOLE. It looked like a DVD War Zone inside the store. Movies and candy littered the floor, shelves have gaping spaces where there are no DVDs. So much crap on the checkout counter that you couldn’t even see the 12 year olds they have working there. Not to mention the fact that the movies weren’t in any semblance of order. Oh, the shelves are labeled Action, New Release, Comedy, etc. But those seem to be more like guidelines, and not hard-and-fast categorical titles because the workers just put the stuff back on the shelf wherever they happen to be. You need Smokey & the Bandit? It’s in the Drama section. Aliens? Kiddie section. WTF?! And they aren’t laid out nicely on the shelf. It looks like a giant dorm room as some are stacked with their backs to the shelf and some are stacked sideways like on a bookshelf. You can forget about alphabetical order. You’re lucky the workers can even read the title, much less put it in it’s proper alphabetical order. I will NEVER go back to that place. I feel like I need to go to the free clinic and get shots after walking in for 10 minutes.

After all that, the sad thing is, I own Curse of the Black Pearl, but my mom borrowed it and has not returned it. You like apples? How you like them apples?

Anywho, have a good weekend everyone and I’ll see you on the other side.

Windex Kool-Aid: Wha-HUH?!

Posted in food, humor, Kool Aid, Photoshop, random with tags , , on June 6, 2006 by Paxton

Here’s another creation from the PaxNet Kool-Aid labs. You may be thinking, “Pax, why the hell did you pick Windex?” Well, it wasn’t just a random, out-of-my-ass creation. It does have a history, though. Check it:

Kool-Aid’s Berry Blue was introduced in the late ’80s. There was a huge media blitz and push for the flavor. Pretty soon parents started complaining that the flavor looked too much like windshield wiper fluid and/or Windex. They were afraid that kids would be confused and mistake the two. Apparently these parents keep their wiper fluid and Windex in the fridge next to the juice. WTF?! So, according to urban legend, Kool-Aid pulled the flavor in order to avoid massive lawsuits from crazy-ass parents.

Well, Berry Blue is back and you can buy it in stores. Let me tell you, it is tasty…and BLUE. Like really blue. Radiation blue. It’s almost scary.

I thought I would create the flavor Kool-Aid almost did, but didn’t.

And there was much rejoicing.

Check out all my other creative, and completely made up, Kool-Aid creations here.

Happy Memorial Day

Posted in holiday, humor, personal, random with tags on May 29, 2006 by Paxton

Keep in mind all the men who have died fighting for our freedoms. For it is them who have made it possible for us not to go to work today…oh and do all the things we take for granted everyday. But also the not working thing.

Buy a box of cookes…lose your soul

Posted in Girl Scout Cookies, humor, personal, random with tags , , on March 14, 2006 by Paxton

I am glad the whole Girl Scout cookie ‘sales extravaganza’ is over. Seriously. They were pimping those things out like crack rock. I’d go to the grocery store, there are two adults and their kids asking me to buy cookies. I walk THREE STORES TO THE RIGHT to go to Blockbuster Video and there are two more adults and kids asking me to buy cookies. How many places am I going to be harrassed to buy cookies? They are like the mafia. I felt like if I didn’t buy at least a box some guy named Vinnie was gonna kneecap me. It got so bad I almost started shopping exclusively at adult bookstores just so I wouldn’t see a little girl outside trying to shake me down for some cookies. And I’m not sure how much longer adult bookstores will be safe.

“Hey sailor, looking for a good time? Buy a box of Trefoils and see where the night takes you.”
