Nerd Lunch and Expanded Fandomverse Podcasts

Posted in movies, podcast, pop culture, Star Wars with tags , , , , on August 5, 2014 by Paxton

I’ve been gone a week, so things have been a little hectic here. Consequently, I missed this week’s episode of Nerd Lunch. CT and Jeeg fared well without me. They invited Howie Decker from UnderScoopFire and they talked about Man Crushes.

Man Crush

They run the gammut with current men, older men, dead men and even cartoon men. Surprisingly, I am not on any of their lists. A little shocking to be honest.  Check out Nerd Lunch episode 143 in iTunes, Stitcher or over on Nerd Lunch.

How about a podcast that I’m actually on? Two time 4th Chair guest, and my good friend, Jason Collier has joined a new podcast called The Expanded Fandomverse Podcast.

efp01

It’s a Star Wars themed podcast that interviews creative Star Wars fans to discover how Star Wars inspired them. Due to my friendship with Jason and the fact I’m currently a mostly not entirely unsuccessful podcaster, they asked me to be their first guest for a “pilot” episode. The show isn’t on iTunes just yet, so you have to navigate over to the site to listen. But you can listen to the show through your browser.

Check out the pilot episode of The Expanded Fandomverse Podcast featuring an interview with me right here.  They interview me about my blog, how it got started and how that led me to become the famous podcaster that I am today.  And how Star Wars ties into all of that.  I had a really great time with these guys and urge you to check out this new podcast.

Cult Film Club Episode 15: The Shadow (1994)

Cult Film Club

This month’s movie is what the Cult Film Club was founded on. When I was first talking with Shawn and Jaime about doing the podcast, this movie was first and foremost in my mind. I knew that eventually, we would get to talk about this movie.  And that movie is Russell Mulcahy’s The Shadow starring Alec Baldwin, John Lone, Penelope Ann Miller, Tim Curry and Ian McKellan.

The Shadow

The three of us dive into our first experiences with the movie (2 of the 3 of us saw it in the theater), we talk about our relationship to the movie and what we now think of it as time has passed.  Lots of talk about the origins of the movie, the Shadow character as well as some talk of the movie toys.

Nerd Lunch Episode 129: Creating the Worst. Movie. EVER.

Posted in movies, podcast, pop culture with tags , , on April 29, 2014 by Paxton

Nerd Lunch Podcast

My Jacksonville compatriot, Robert Zerbe, from To the Escape Hatch returns to the show this week. And this week, we do something a little different. This week we are doing a little Nerd Lunch Theater.  CT takes on the role of Ned Lunch whose movie mogul father has given him the job of creating a hit movie.  Unfortunately Ned Lunch is an idiot and his father has assigned Jeeg, Robert and I as producers to help make this movie.  Only, the three of us are out to sabotage the movie because we are all jealous of Ned.  So the three of us try to convince Ned to make…the Worst. Movie. EVER.

Watch as Jeeg, Robert and I shoot down all of Ned’s good ideas and suggest actors in drag to play the lead female roles. Watch us also suggest other terrible ideas for writers, directors and many, many more terrible cast members. I think we even delve into some awful, awful decisions for the soundtrack. We truly do create the worst movie ever.

And between you, me and the entire Internet, I think this is easily one of our best shows.  Top 3, at the very least.  Give it a listen.  You won’t be disappointed.

Lots of Podcast goodness for you to consume

Several episodes of my podcasts have been posted lately.

Teen Wolf Bites

Episode 125 of the Nerd Lunch Podcast was posted last week to much acclaim. It features the final week in our Atomic Weeks celebration in which we are celebrating the Atomic Geeks’ 250th episode by having each member of the show as guests.  This final week has Digio as our guest and we are talking about breakfast cereals. We talk about our favorite cereals, mascots and commercials. We even take a moment to create our own cereal based on a pop culture property. It’s a fun episode, check it out on iTunes, Stitcher or listen to it online here.

Cult Film Club vs Nerd Lunch

This week, episode 126 features a crossover between Cult Film Club and the Nerd Lunch Podcast.  You may remember that all of us met up in Atlanta last month.  While we spent our time eating and drinking our way through the city, we did actually sit down and record a podcast.  And it has now gone live.  It’s our annual Summer Preview episode where we all talk about movies that we are excited to see in the coming months.  It’s a lot of fun.  Check it out on iTunes, Stitcher or listen to it online here.

Harold Ramis

And, in a bit of synergy, Shawn, Jaime and I have finally started recording Season 2 of the Cult Film Club podcast. The first episode is up in which we pay tribute to the great Harold Ramis by looking at three of his most famous and cult-y flicks; Stripes, Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day.  So click the RIP image above and listen to the awesome Episode 13 of The Cult Film Club Podcast.

Oh yes, and this is my 800th post on the Cavalcade.  You’re welcome, Internet.

Nerd Lunch Podcast

This is week 3 of our Atomic Weeks in which we are celebrating the upcoming episode 250 of our friends The Atomic Geeks. This week we are joined by Christian Nielsen in order to discuss late night talk shows.

conan_year2000

We talk about our history watching these shows and then we start discussing our favorite and least favorite hosts.  There are several “geek confession” style reveals and we all espouse our mutual love of Conan O’Brien.  Lots of fun to be had, plus, check out the intro to the show this week.  It may be one of the best we’ve ever done.
