The Atomic Geeks Podcast reaches episode 250 with surprisingly little casualties

The Atomic Geeks

The Nerd Lunch Podcast’s big brother podcast, The Atomic Geeks, are celebrating 5 years of podcasting awesomeness. After 5 years of Geek News (well, almost 5 years of that), Atomic Picks, Meat and Potatoes, Crying Out Loud and reviewing movies at gunpoint they have finally clawed their way to their 250th episode.  And with only a few casualties along the way (Andrew “Twilight lovin'” Bloom and their dignities).

TAG250

CT has spent the better part of the last 6 months combing through the Geeks’ archive and creating the greatest clip show in broadcasting history.  And then he recruited Mark Dury to interview each of the Geeks and talk about the last 5 years and present all of these awesome clips.  Expect to hear Downs’ talking about Boxwood Brewing, Christian talking about his terrible food analogies and metaphors and Bloom’s unconditional love of Twilight.

It’s a massively entertaining show and if you are even the slightest fan of the Atomic Geeks you owe it to yourself to listen to this 2+ hour retrospective extravaganza.  It’s got EVERYTHING.  So click one of the images above to go check out the Atomic Geeks’ 250th episode celebration.

Congrats guys on the 5 years.  We hope you get at least 5 more out of it.

Lots of Podcast goodness for you to consume

Several episodes of my podcasts have been posted lately.

Teen Wolf Bites

Episode 125 of the Nerd Lunch Podcast was posted last week to much acclaim. It features the final week in our Atomic Weeks celebration in which we are celebrating the Atomic Geeks’ 250th episode by having each member of the show as guests.  This final week has Digio as our guest and we are talking about breakfast cereals. We talk about our favorite cereals, mascots and commercials. We even take a moment to create our own cereal based on a pop culture property. It’s a fun episode, check it out on iTunes, Stitcher or listen to it online here.

Cult Film Club vs Nerd Lunch

This week, episode 126 features a crossover between Cult Film Club and the Nerd Lunch Podcast.  You may remember that all of us met up in Atlanta last month.  While we spent our time eating and drinking our way through the city, we did actually sit down and record a podcast.  And it has now gone live.  It’s our annual Summer Preview episode where we all talk about movies that we are excited to see in the coming months.  It’s a lot of fun.  Check it out on iTunes, Stitcher or listen to it online here.

Harold Ramis

And, in a bit of synergy, Shawn, Jaime and I have finally started recording Season 2 of the Cult Film Club podcast. The first episode is up in which we pay tribute to the great Harold Ramis by looking at three of his most famous and cult-y flicks; Stripes, Ghostbusters and Groundhog Day.  So click the RIP image above and listen to the awesome Episode 13 of The Cult Film Club Podcast.

Oh yes, and this is my 800th post on the Cavalcade.  You’re welcome, Internet.

Cavalcade Comics #2 – Godzilla vs Shogun Warriors

Cavalcade Comics

I went small for my first issue of Cavalcade Comics and my new vintage comic throwdown feature. Today, I thought I’d go the opposite way and go BIG for issue #2. WAY big.

Back in the 70s Marvel had the license for both Godzilla and Shogun Warriors comics. Yet, as far as I know, they two never met. Why? Why, Marvel?!  Today, I rectify that gross oversight. Check out my second Vintage Comic Throwdown in Cavalcade Comics #2; Godzilla vs Shogun Warriors.

Cavalcade Comics 02

This has sort of a vintage Pacific Rim vibe, doesn’t it?  I loved the Shogun Warriors cartoons and toys. And some of the later Godzilla movies were balls out wacky awesome.  And it seems fitting that Godzilla himself was marketed under the Shogun Warriors toy banner for his famous fire breathing 19 inch figure.

Shogun Warriors Godzilla

Like I said, total pop culture synergy.  So, you’re welcome for the awesome epic monster/robot battling.

For those keeping score at home, I mashed up the covers for Marvel’s Godzilla King of the Monsters #8 and Shogun Warriors #8. I may have also pulled in a stray robot from Shogun Warriors #6.

Nerd Lunch Podcast

This is week 3 of our Atomic Weeks in which we are celebrating the upcoming episode 250 of our friends The Atomic Geeks. This week we are joined by Christian Nielsen in order to discuss late night talk shows.

conan_year2000

We talk about our history watching these shows and then we start discussing our favorite and least favorite hosts.  There are several “geek confession” style reveals and we all espouse our mutual love of Conan O’Brien.  Lots of fun to be had, plus, check out the intro to the show this week.  It may be one of the best we’ve ever done.

Download this episode from iTunes or listen to it on Feedburner.

Or listen to it online right here.
