Nerd Lunch Episode 25: Celebrating 25 Episodes by Redoing Smallville

Nerd Lunch Podcast

This is it. We have reached our 25th episode. Thanks to all of the fans that listen who made this happen. So, how do we celebrate our 25th episode? We invited one of the members of the Atomic Geeks, our sister podcast, to join us. In the fourth chair for this rodeo is Michael Digiovanni.  And our topic this week?  We steal a franchise topic from the Geeks.  Yes, this week, we do a Redo.

Smallville

And we are redoing the WB/CW show Smallville. It’s an interesting discussion because three of us are comic book guys and one of us isn’t. Plus, for the most part, we are all divided on how we feel about the show as a whole.  So listen to us take apart this show and examine what was done right, what was done wrong and how the four of us would have fixed it and made it better.

Nerd Lunch Episode 24: Giving anime a chance…

Nerd Lunch Podcast

We’ve had to move our podcast to a different host server because we keep bumping against our bandwidth caps. You may have noticed since the last few episodes would throw up a “Nerd Lunch is too popular” page when you tried to download.  Apparently we are pretty awesome.  So I hear.  Anyway, we’ve moved to a newer host with higher bandwidth caps, but due to the upload restrictions, we can’t put all of our past episodes up at once.  So we’ll be adding several older episodes a month along with our new episode uploads.  It’ll take a few months to re-populate the archives, but we are working on it.  Thanks for liking us enough to make us have to do this.

Anyway, Nerd Lunch episode 24 is now LIVE for your enjoyment.  This week the rotating fourth chair is occupied by a regular guest, Shawn Robare from Branded in the 80s.  Shawn is an anime aficionado and since none of the Nerd Lunch hosts have ever really enjoyed anime, we thought Shawn would be the perfect guide as we force ourselves to “Give it a Try”.

Spirited Away

And the anime movie Shawn picked for us to talk about is Miyazaki’s Spirited Away.  So come join us as Shawn, CT, Jeeg and I dive head first into the strange and often nonsensical world of anime.

Nerd Lunch Episode 23: Time Travel in pop culture

Nerd Lunch Podcast

Welcome to Nerd Lunch Episode 23. This week, the three of us fly solo without a fourth chair. And the topic is time travel in pop culture.

Time Travel

And because this is one of my favorite topics, I get to host the show. Now, if you are joining us after listening to our promo on last week’s Atomic Geeks podcast, then you are scratching your head wondering why we aren’t discussing the movie Spirited Away with frequent contributor, Shawn Robare.  Well, Shawn had some last minute computer issues so we literally do this episode without any preparation.  Combine that with my hosting abilities, and you have one of the most oddly fascinating podcasts we’ve done.  Seriously, you won’t ever want me to host again.  So, ENJOY!

Nerd Lunch Episodes 17 & 18: Busting a list and reading some fan fiction

Nerd Lunch Podcast

So, I was taking a break over the holidays, but the podcast doesn’t.  So while I was out, we had two episodes go live.

Listbusters

Episode 17 went live the week of Christmas. In that episode the three of us fly without a fourth chair and decide to bust a top 25 list from IGN featuring the Top 25 Sci-Fi movies of all time.  The list is pretty good, but the top 2 spots are shocking.  And this episode is an extra LOOOONG version as it clocks in around 1.5 hours due to the number of movies we begin discussing.  Come see what Sci-Fi classics the three of us can’t stand.

Torchwood LA

Going live this week is Episode 18.  In that episode we are joined again by Jay from SexyArmpit.com.  In this episode we all point our browsers towards FanFiction.net to feast our hungry eyeballs on the awesome buffet that can be found there.  We all pick a fan fiction story about a favorite TV property, read it, and review it for the rest of the group.  It’s a lot of fun.  Check it out to see who wears the pants in the Horde and if Jack Bauer accepts an invitation to join Torchwood.

Our newest podcast is live. This week we are joined by Jeremy from Geek Chunks as we put one of the most controversial directors of our time on pop culture trial, Mr Michael Bay.

Jeeg is the prosecutor, CT is the defender and I’m the judge.  Regardless of your stance on Mr Bay, I guarantee you your views will be corroborated by someone in this podcast.  So join us to see if based on our verdict, Michael Bay will be allowed to continue to make movies.
