Nerd Lunch Episode 32: Nerd Heritage

Nerd Lunch Podcast

We had a completely different show all ready to go this week, but the guest had to bow out at the last minute, so our friend Fitz fills in last second to help us out. The topic? Nerd Heritage.

Within the walls of this podcast we all discuss how we became nerds. We also talk about how we want to pass on our nerd legacies to our children (by ignoring wifely protests). It’s a fun topic that was sort of “gently inspired” by a topic the Atomic Geeks did for their episode 148 called Geek Dads.

Nerd Lunch Episode 26: Talking memories of Retro Technology with The Retroist

Nerd Lunch Podcast

And we are BACK after our 25th episode spectacular. This week we have a very special guest. The guys and I are a big fan of him and I know you are too. This week we are joined by The Retroist, the brains behind the Retroist site and the awesome Retroist podcast.

The Retroist

This week, we take the opportunity of having an expert in “retro-ology” to look back at our memories of retro technology. We talk about things like cameras, Fox Photo, VCRs and the Atari 2600. It’s a lively discussion that will have you skipping down memory lane. And for you youngsters, you can hear what it was like “back in our day”.

Download this episode from iTunes or listen to it on Feedburner. And, of course, Zune Marketplace.

Jeeg tried to find a way to fax the episode to you, but the solution involved an RCA to coax converter and copious amounts of black magic.  It seemed like a lot of work.

Nerd Lunch Episode 24: Giving anime a chance…

Nerd Lunch Podcast

We’ve had to move our podcast to a different host server because we keep bumping against our bandwidth caps. You may have noticed since the last few episodes would throw up a “Nerd Lunch is too popular” page when you tried to download.  Apparently we are pretty awesome.  So I hear.  Anyway, we’ve moved to a newer host with higher bandwidth caps, but due to the upload restrictions, we can’t put all of our past episodes up at once.  So we’ll be adding several older episodes a month along with our new episode uploads.  It’ll take a few months to re-populate the archives, but we are working on it.  Thanks for liking us enough to make us have to do this.

Anyway, Nerd Lunch episode 24 is now LIVE for your enjoyment.  This week the rotating fourth chair is occupied by a regular guest, Shawn Robare from Branded in the 80s.  Shawn is an anime aficionado and since none of the Nerd Lunch hosts have ever really enjoyed anime, we thought Shawn would be the perfect guide as we force ourselves to “Give it a Try”.

Spirited Away

And the anime movie Shawn picked for us to talk about is Miyazaki’s Spirited Away.  So come join us as Shawn, CT, Jeeg and I dive head first into the strange and often nonsensical world of anime.
