Nerd Lunch Episode 30: Drilldown on The A-Team

Welcome to the big episode #30 extravaganza. In this episode, Jeeg “Bad Attitude” Baracus takes the hosting mic from “Hannibal” CT and joins me, “Howling Mad” Holley, and return guest Rondal “The Faceman” (from Strange Kids Club), as we do a drill down on one of CT’s (and everyone else’s) favorite shows of all time: The A-Team.

We’ll discuss the characters in the show, specific seasons, episodes and guest stars. We’ll discuss ideas we wish the show would have done as well as how we would like to see the A-Team continue on. We’ll also delve into the movie from 2010 and wonder why it won’t be getting an awesome sequel.

So join us for an awesome discussion about one of the quintessentially 80s TV shows.

Nerd Lunch Episode 29: Discussing the phenomenon of popular background characters in Star Wars

Here we are, one episode away from #30. This week’s topic came about due to a comment by Jeeg on my Star Wars Episode I in 3D article from back in February. Jeeg wanted to discuss why Star Wars characters like Boba Fett, Darth Maul and Admiral Ackbar are so popular with fans when they do next to nothing in the movie.

It’s a valid question and I think is indicative of sci-fi properties in general, but most noticeably with Star Wars. Join us for a fun Star Wars discussion that delves into not just the movies but the expanded universe of books, comics and yes, we again mention the Holiday Special (it just won’t go away).

Nerd Lunch Episode 27: Lots of talk about vintage candy

The Nerd Lunch crew returns for episode 27. You are welcome, Internet. This week we are joined by Jason Liebig, proprieter of one of the newest and best nostalgia sites on the Internet machine, CollectingCandy.com.

Jason joins us for a lively discussion about candy. We talk about the actual candy, but we also discuss candy packaging, marketing and the problems inherent in collecting candy that is thirty years old. It’s a fun discussion and I guarantee you’ll learn stuff that you’ll immediately want to forget. And at the end of the episode we give a shout out to a good friend of this blog, Trish, who has never listened to a podcast. Hopefully, this will get her to start listening (at least to our awesome podcast).

Nerd Lunch Episode 26: Talking memories of Retro Technology with The Retroist

And we are BACK after our 25th episode spectacular. This week we have a very special guest. The guys and I are a big fan of him and I know you are too. This week we are joined by The Retroist, the brains behind the Retroist site and the awesome Retroist podcast.

This week, we take the opportunity of having an expert in “retro-ology” to look back at our memories of retro technology. We talk about things like cameras, Fox Photo, VCRs and the Atari 2600. It’s a lively discussion that will have you skipping down memory lane. And for you youngsters, you can hear what it was like “back in our day”.

Nerd Lunch Episode 25: Celebrating 25 Episodes by Redoing Smallville

This is it. We have reached our 25th episode. Thanks to all of the fans that listen who made this happen. So, how do we celebrate our 25th episode? We invited one of the members of the Atomic Geeks, our sister podcast, to join us. In the fourth chair for this rodeo is Michael Digiovanni. And our topic this week? We steal a franchise topic from the Geeks. Yes, this week, we do a Redo.

Smallville

And we are redoing the WB/CW show Smallville. It’s an interesting discussion because three of us are comic book guys and one of us isn’t. Plus, for the most part, we are all divided on how we feel about the show as a whole. So listen to us take apart this show and examine what was done right, what was done wrong and how the four of us would have fixed it and made it better.
