5 Awesome pop culture vehicles I’d love to drive in real life

LEB

New assignment for the League this week. This week Brian wants to hear what pop culture vehicles do you personally want to drive?

Right off the bat, Brian took the Batmobile off the table, so I can’t include it here. For grins and giggles, though, my favorite version of the Batmobile? The one from Burton’s Batman and Batman Returns.  However, it wouldn’t have been my #1 pick, but it would have made the top 5.  Possibly even top 3.

So let’s take a look at the 5 pop culture vehicles I’d personally like to own and drive. And yes, these are in order of preference.

BTTF Delorean
BTTF time traveling Delorean – Hands down, this is my number one.  And that should be obvious if you’ve read my blog for longer than 15 minutes.  Not only does it look bad ass but it TRAVELS THROUGH TIME.  And obviously I want the one from the end of the first movie with the Mr Fusion (so I don’t need Plutonium) and the 2015 hover conversion (so the thing can FLY).

KITT
KITT – KITT is a very close second. Why is it second to the Delorean? Because it doesn’t come with the ability to TRAVEL THROUGH TIME. Time Travel trumps pretty much anything else.  However, having a talking bad ass car that can almost fly is pretty awesome, so I would want it next.  Btw, I want the classic Pontiac Trans-Am version, not the crappy Ford Mustang version.

Autocar
Autocar – From the short lived TV show Automan.  This baby can go super fast and turn at 90 degree angles.  And it looks awesome and TRON-like.  When you’re done, it disappears into grid lines before vanishing into the ether.  Never pay for parking again.

Wraith Car(Via Cars + Movies)
Dodge M4S Turbo Interceptor – This was the awesome spectral car from the Charlie Sheen vehicle The Wraith. Say what you will about this 80s guilty pleasure, but that car is BAD ASS. Super fast, hyper agile and able to completely reconstitute itself after a crash.  F**K YOU, INSURANCE!

Firefox
Firefox – Shawn at Branded in the 80s picked Airwolf, which is awesome, but highly impractical for driving down to the convenience store for beer and Twizzlers. Honestly, though, I do like his idea of picking Airwolf.  And if I myself were to pick a flying machine (other than a time traveling Delorean with a hover conversion) I would probably have picked Firefox from the 1982 Clint Eastwood movie.  It’s a bad ass super fighter jet with thought impulse controls.  YES, THE PLANE RESPONDS TO YOUR THOUGHTS.  However, the computer only understands Russian, but actually having a Firefox plane would be worth learning Russian through Rosetta Stone or an online course.  But again, that still seems like a lot of work.

Other entries from The League:
1. As I mentioned, Shawn from Branded in the 80s picked Airwolf and two other awesome vehicles.
2. Christopher Tupa picked the Bandit’s Trans Am which I found hard NOT to pick in my list.
3. Haxbee picked a sweet ride from a classic TV series
4. Lefty Limbo steals Brian’s pick and selects the awesomely armored Landmaster from Damnation Alley
5. Brian at Cool and Collected recovers from Lefty Limbo jacking his ride and picks the 1950 Mercury from Stallone’s awesomely retarded Cobra

  1. why is this the first I’ve heard of Automan?!

  2. Going through those old cassette tapes of mine a few weeks ago, the theme from Automan showed up a few times. So glad to see this on your list!

  3. Whoa, “awesomely retarded?” That’s a bit harsh don’t you think? 😉

I loved that you would buy the Rosetta Stone learning course if it meant you could fly the jet. Awesome.

  4. I like to ride in actual real cars for the most part:

    Magnum PI’s red Ferrarri
    James Bond’s Astin Martin
Smokey and The Bandit’s Pontiac Trans Am
The Dukes of Hazzards General Lee Dodge Charger
Harrison Ford’s yellow Ford Deuce Cop from American Graffiti
The Bumblee Bee Yellow Chevy Camaro from Transdormers
Cole Trickle’s Chevy Lumina Race Car from Days of Thunder
The Dodge Charge featured in The Fast and Furious
The Chevy Silverado Pussy Wagon from Kill Bill
The Ford Falcon XB featured in Mad Max
    Speed Racers Mach 5
The Ford Thunderbird from Thelma and Louise
The Grease Lighting Ford Deluxe from Grease
The Custom Paragon Panther that is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
    The Plymouth Fury from Christine
The Bluesmobile Dodge Monaco from the Blues Brothers
Mr Frye’s red Ferrarri from Ferris Beuller’s Day Off
Starky’s and Hutch’s Ford Gran Torino
The Cadillac Miller Meteor from Ghostbusters
Steve McQueens Ford Mustang from Bullitt
Herbie The Love Bug VB Beetle
Doc Brown’s DeLorean from Back to the Future

    • Yeah, and most of those cars are all awesome. But there was no caveat that it had to be real. And if I’m doing this exercise, I want my car to travel through time and FLY.

FYI, the Mach 5 isn’t real. Technically, neither is the “Back to the Future Delorean” as it can travel through time. You probably just meant the Delorean DMC-12.

    The Wraith! Yes!

  6. Good Heavens. Automan! LoL I would totally want a car that can turn 90-degree angles. That brought back some really obscure memories! Was that just a modified Lamborghini Countach?

Being that BTTF is one of my fav movies of all time (Daddy-O), I would have expected to put the Delorean on my list, but the Landmaster made too big of an impression 😉

  7. Great Picks! I would ride in any of these, but especially the Delorean and Kitt!!

  8. I remember Kitt! I used to watch Knight Rider and thought it was very cool 🙂 Oh god, the Delorean from the Back to the Future movies was all that and a bag of chips.
